Lazar Agatonovic: Companies still need young IT talent despite AI.

Lazar Agatonovic, CTO of Amusnet, took part in Telerik Academy’s webinar “Career in IT. Is Now the Right Time?”, alongside Krum Hadzhigeorgiev, Chairman of the Board of BASSCOM, Nadya Atanasova, Deputy GM, Alpha at Telerik Academy, Liliya Mesechkova, SVP Product, Digital Experience at Progress, and Maria Konstantinova, Head of Marketing and Communications at KPMG Delivery Network.

The discussion focused on the current state of the IT market, the growing role of artificial intelligence, and the opportunities available for junior talent entering the industry.
During the webinar, Agatonovic stressed that despite rapid AI adoption and ongoing market adjustments, companies still have a strong need for young IT professionals. According to him, around 30–35% of Amusnet’s new hires over the past year have been junior specialists.
He highlighted that young talent brings a fresh mindset, adaptability, and strong familiarity with modern tools and technologies. “Behind every bot and every prompt, there must be an intelligent human being who knows how to manage it,” Agatonovic said, emphasizing that AI supports productivity but does not replace human expertise and decision-making.

Agatonovic also pointed out that employers increasingly value motivation, teamwork, curiosity, and problem-solving skills alongside technical knowledge, as companies continue to invest in the next generation of tech talent.
